The Worldwide Center of Mathematics was founded in the fall of 2008 by David B. Massey, an award-winning professor, with 26 years of college teaching experience, and a leading research mathematician in the area of singularities. The physical offices of the Center are located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

The purpose of the Center is to promote and disseminate mathematical knowledge at all levels ranging from college-preparation to research-level material. Our planned activities include:

• Video-textbooks: We produce undergraduate and test-prep textbooks, as pdf's. The pdf format allows us to hyperlink all of the cross-references in the books, to put in pop-up margin comments, and to embed videos at the beginning of each section - videos which teach students the content of the section. Consequently, our free textbooks are also electronic versions of courses. The pdf format also means that our texts are ultimately portable; the student can have the textbooks on a laptop, an iPhone, a Kindle, or any other device that can display pdf's. In addition, the student can print any portions of a textbook that he/she desires.
Even if our textbooks are printed, and so all of the extra pdf features are missing, we still believe that our textbooks are superior to any others that currently exist. Our texts are written by award-winning teachers, and are written to emphasize ideas and examples. Technical details - the rigorous mathematics - is important in our textbooks, but we place these details at the end of each chapter, where they do not interrupt the exposition. Our test-prep books are aimed at helping students prepare for the SAT's, GRE's, and other tests the old-fashioned way: by learning the material, not by learning test-taking tricks.

• Custom Video Lectures and Reviews: With two weeks notice, we produce custom videos on all of the topics for which we offer course materials, and for many other topics.

• Research-level Lectures: Live, in-person, research-level lectures by some of the world's premiere mathematicians; the public is invited to attend. High-quality videos of these lectures are available for download.

• The Worldwide Journal of Singularities: An online-only, refereed journal of research articles in singularity theory.

The Worldwide Center of Mathematics is a for-profit organization, that has many aspects of a non-profit organization. In particular, we wish to provide much of our content and services at no cost or, at worst, a very low cost, to the individual user. In order to fund the Center, and to expand our activities in the future, we rely heavily on donations, investors, advertising revenue, and licensing deals with institutions and publishers. Our goal is to grow to the point where we can fund additional activities, such as: in-office tutorials and review sessions for undergraduates in the Greater Boston area, 24/7 video-chat tutoring, postdoctoral research positions (including office space), hosting of mathematics research conferences, and adding more Worldwide journals.
